How do you feel when loneliness surrounds you? We’ve all experienced times when it seems like a black cloud of loneliness descends, even if only for a short time. We may have even felt the pangs of loneliness as if we were invisible, even in a crowd of people.
Where Does Loneliness Come From?
These emotions may arise from a deep sense of loss, isolation, or could even involve hormonal or medical issues. Whatever the reason, God wants to assure us He is right beside us to help. Because alone never means lonely when God is by our side.
Picture flying over dark clouds in an airplane. As the plane rises higher, soon you will be looking down at those stormy clouds from a bright, sunlit sky. Jesus is that Light for us. He is the One who will never leave us. We are never truly alone because His presence lives inside us as believers, and He walks with us daily.
We Can Help Each Other Through Loneliness
When we ask, Jesus will also provide a Christian friend to help us through special times like loneliness. We were created to love and help one another. Sometimes all we or a friend need is a listening ear, and “just to be there.”
When loneliness threatens our world, and it seems no one cares, Jesus’ faithful arms reach around us, drawing us close, whispering to us, “I’m here, and I care.” He is our constant companion and comfort. His presence surrounds us, cushioning us on every side. With Him, we are never alone.¹

“Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT).
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you (1 Peter 5:7 NLT).
