Do you need encouragement? Has discouragement led you on a dead-end street? You’re not alone. We’ve all experienced those moments, especially in the most challenging seasons of our lives. During a time of personal discouragement in the past, God reminded me of some simple, but important truths. I hope they encourage you too.
Biblical Words of Encouragement in Times of Discouragement
Read the following biblical words of encouragement. These Scripture promises in God’s Word will affirm those truths above. God truly ministered to me through them.
Whatever God has promised gets stamped with the Yes of Jesus. In him, this is what we preach and pray, the great Amen, God’s Yes and our Yes together, gloriously evident. God affirms us, making us a sure thing in Christ, putting his Yes within us. By his Spirit he has stamped us with his eternal pledge—a sure beginning of what he is destined to complete. 2 Corinthians 1:20-22, MSG
“You didn’t choose me! I chose you! I appointed you to go and produce lovely fruit always, so that no matter what you ask for from the Father, using my name, he will give it to you.” John 15:16, TLB
“Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not those who commend themselves that are approved, but those whom the Lord commends. 2 Corinthians 10:17-18, NRSV
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Psalm 23:5 NASB
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. Ephesians 1:5, NLT
How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:7, NLT
Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing. Ephesians 2:7-10, MSG
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8, NIV
Who is like you, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you. Psalm 89:8, NIV
