               Beauty From the Inside Out

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

I Samuel 16:7 NIV

Real beauty comes from the inside. And God is always at work making us more beautiful in character. But the outer frame we wear around that beauty can help attract people to the beauty inside. Robert Browning once said, My business is not to remake myself, but make the absolute best of what God made.” Our faces are like frames that can reflect the beauty of Christ. Those who know Him reflect Him (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Most people walk into a room and are unconsciously thinking about their appearance: “Do I look all right? Is my hair in place? Do I have enough makeup on? How do people see me? Will I make a good impression?” I discovered years ago that when I found colors and styles that looked good on me, I felt better about myself.

When we look our best, we feel our best—and suddenly when we walk into a room our focus is not, “Here I am! But “There you are!” We can concentrate on others, not on ourselves. We are free to be the me God designed us to be!

I added “beauty consultant” to my repertoire of activities about fours years ago for three “B” reasons:

  1.  Because of the sheer Beauty of it. I love the products I’ve used for over seventeen years. They’ve made a difference. They are     affordable—and they work. When people compliment my skin, I know that the products I’ve used all these years have made a difference. Taking care of your skin pays benefits and can even mean longer life—like protection against skin cancer. Vanity is spending two hours on your makeup and still worrying about how you look. Beauty is making the best of what you have and radiating whose you are from the inside out—whether you look like a model or not. Beauty is not skin deep. Real beauty is spirit deep.

  1.  Because I was too Busy. Many women tell me they are too busy to add anything else to their schedule—especially not the title, “beauty consultant.” I stopped counting long ago the number of hats I wore. I teach and encourage balance for women—but I also know that we women operate best when we are doing the things we love the most. (and the things God intends for us to pursue).I discovered I was indeed too busy. That’s why I chose to become a beauty consultant. I love writing books and greeting cards—I love writing about Him! Other than loving and giving support to my husband, writing is my main ministry. But becoming a beauty consultant gave me the opportunity to move away from my computer to the people around me—to become closer friends with my neighbors, and to enlarge my circle of friendships. I found many opportunities to encourage women, and even to share with them of God’s love and beauty. With God’s help and blessing I will always be busy writing. But this actually gave me more balance in my ministry—as long as I stay focused on Him.

  1.  Because of the Business Benefits. What woman doesn’t dream of owning her own business someday? I am not a saleswoman. I am a writer and minister’s wife, remember? Becoming an independent beauty consultant with products that I knew and loved meant owning my own business, however. I can run it as I wish. And I can work at it in the time frame that fits my schedule. Currently I only spend a few hours a week or less working this particular business. It gives me extra income, which is nice. And the tax benefits are great as well. I am eager to share with others how they can own their own business, or just have the opportunity to buy their own beauty products at a whopping savings. What they do with their title, “independent beauty consultant,” is entirely up to them. I’m not into high pressure sales—and the products I use and love don’t need high pressure techniques. The results allow the products to sell themselves.

I’m interested in developing beauty from the inside out. And I believe God sees every woman as beautiful. I’d love to help you make the best of what God has given to you!

If there is one theme for my life, it would be, “God is faithful.” He has turned fear into courage, ashes into beauty, doubt into faith, and weakness into strength.

Through the years God has been faithful to teach me about the things on the above list. It would be my privilege to share with you His reflections from my heart. He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
